Do you know what stops most people from achieving greatness? It’s not the inability to do things differently than they are already doing. It’s the belief that they cannot change their lives for the better. If we want to get the most out of life, we can’t afford to hold onto those limiting beliefs any longer!
In this episode, I’ve brought together some of the best moments with one of my favorite guests, Dr. Joe Dispenza, to help us unlock the fullest potential of our minds. Let’s look back at how to manage and overcome any anxiety in our lives and manifest the dream lives we have for our future selves. Weโll also revisit the most important thing we can do to break away from a negative mindset.
We all have so much potential to achieve our dream lives, and we should never be afraid of taking steps to move toward them. So, without further ado, let’s dive into that in today’s episode!
Who Is Dr. Joe Dispenza?
Dr. Joe Dispenza is an international speaker, researcher, author, and educator who is passionate about combining the fields of neuroscience, epigenetics, and quantum physics to explore the science behind spontaneous remissions. He uses that knowledge to help people heal themselves of illness, chronic conditions, and even terminal diseases to enjoy a more fulfilled and happy life and evolve their consciousness.
Dr. Joe is the New York Times bestselling author of You Are the Placebo: Making Your Mind Matter, which explores our ability to heal without drugs or surgery but rather by thought alone. His most recent book, Becoming Supernatural, talks about how we can intentionally change our brain chemistry to initiate profoundly mystical, transcendental experiences and develop a more healthy body, mind, and spiritual life.
Dr. Joe didn’t always work in the field of neuroscience. He started out as a chiropractor, earning his doctor of chiropractic degree from Life University in Atlanta, GA. He had a successful chiropractic practice, but one day, he had a dangerous accident. In 1986, while cycling in a triathlon, Dr. Joe was hit by a truck. He broke six vertebrae in his spine, and his doctors told him he would never walk again.
Dr. Joe asked four different surgeons what he should do, and all four of them prescribed a complicated surgery. The surgery would relieve some of his pain but nearly guarantee he would never walk again. But that wasn’t good enough. He refused to have the surgery and instead began to imagine himself totally healed. He visualized each vertebrae healing and reconstructed his spine in his mind. In just ten and a half weeks, Dr. Joe was back on his feet, and in twelve weeks, he was training again and back at work at his chiropractic clinic. He fully healed himself with just his mind.
In his easy-to-understand, encouraging, and compassionate style, Dr. Joe has educated thousands of people, detailing how they can rewire their brains and recondition their bodies to make lasting changes. His interest lies in demystifying the mystical so people can have all the tools within their reach to make measurable changes in their lives.
Managing and Overcoming Anxiety in Life
Anxiety is a normal part of life, but it can be debilitating for some. If you’re struggling with anxiety, looking at how it begins can help you manage and overcome it in your life.
“Anxiety stems from living as if you’re in a survival mode. When the survival gene is activated, people always choose the worst-case scenario. โฆ Yet, when we select the worst thing in our minds, we begin to emotionally embrace that future before it happens. This leads us to condition our thoughts and emotions, and ends with our bodies becoming the mind of fear.” โ Dr. Joe Dispenza
Once the body becomes the subconscious mind, controlling it with the conscious mind becomes impossible. This is where Dr. Joe emphasizes the importance of meditation. Using data gathered from years of working with his clients, he explains,
“We have heart scans of people during meditation showing that they can sustain heart coherence for a whole hour. โฆ This means that instead of surrendering to fear, people are experiencing spontaneous love attacks, which I think should be the natural state for us.” โ Dr. Joe Dispenza
Dr. Joe further explains that when you live in elevated states, you can feel your future like it has already happened. Once you get good at it, no person, thing, or experience can take that away. You’re empowered, and if you understand the laws of how creation happens, then you’re less likely to compete and rush to get what you want.
Reading into how anxiety actually works may make it clearer why meditation can help control it. Without constantly experiencing fight-or-flight reactions, we are less inclined to face stressful situations with responses that stem from fear. Instead, we’ll be able to embrace emotions and situations for what they are at that moment in time. We’ll then be able to free ourselves from our own minds, remain calm, and experience happiness in everyday life.
Manifesting the Dream Life for Your Future Self
I finally feel like I’m more in love with my future than the story of my past, but most of us are so fixated on telling how our past held us back as opposed to the story of the future we want to create. Dr. Joe provides an explanation for why this happens.
“The latest research on memory says that memory is creative. 50% of the story we embellish as people is made up. We have the habit of doing that because we can use it to excuse ourselves from changing. We make our past sound worse than it really was. โฆ Unfortunately, the stories we make become our identity.” โ Dr. Joe Dispenza
The more we hold onto that past identity, the harder it is to become who we want to be in the future. Since the past is often what keeps us from manifesting our future dreams, maybe letting go of our regrets and fears can give us a blank slate to create whatever we want. But is it easy to do this?
“It takes a tremendous amount of awareness, repetition, information model, building, sharing, understanding, and experiencing to finally have a person get to the point where they freely let go. When they do, the body’s liberated from the past, and energy gets released. โฆ Within the next five days, a new future can be created by any individual. Itโs not going to be a problem teaching their body what it feels like to be in love with life, to feel that all their needs are met, and that they’re free. New genes are born and will change their brain circuitry, chemistry, and immune system to the future theyโve always wanted.” โ Dr. Joe Dispenza
Despite this, Dr. Joe still reminds us of the danger of falling back to the old self. To sustain the new state, we need to be able to support our internal environment and not let any circumstance or condition make us feel the old way again.
“To support this new internal environment, the most important things for us to possess are knowledge and information. Knowledge is power, and information about oneโs self should be empowering.” โ Dr. Joe Dispenza
When we know about our emotions, energy, and what makes us who we are, it helps us rewire our brains and create new neural networks and pathways. We can even create cadence and rhythm where our bodies can release cells to improve our immune systems. Also, when we understand that 95% of who we are is a set of unconscious programs, we can take the first step of lighting a match in that dark place. We start being aware of our thoughts, words, and actions.
Lastly, when we learn that if we trade fear, frustration, resentment, and suffering for an elevated emotion, we can truly open our hearts and heal. We become free from the old self that used to hold us back from living a fulfilled life. In turn, we can attract more of what we truly want into our lives.
By changing our attitude toward our past, we take charge of creating our future. Once we let go of regrets or traumas, we allow ourselves to look at things in a different light. Then, we can start manifesting whatโs really important to us.
We are only one decision away from living our dreams. Have you made that decision yet? If so, what will it be?
