EP. 499

06/19/17

Julianne Hough

She’s one of the best dancers in the world but she’s so much more than that.

Live With Passion and Love Every Day

That’s just one reason I wanted to re-post one of the greatest episodes of the podcast to date, an interview I did over 2 years ago with the incredible Julianne Hough.

If you’re a fan of Dancing with the Stars, you know her first as a professional ballroom dancer and then as a judge.

You also have seen her in movies, on tour with her brother Derek, and all over social media.

She is such an inspiration.

When we first met, I was nervous and excited because I knew I’d finally have the chance to test my salsa dancing skills with a professional.

We had a blast dancing, but it was also amazing to learn her story of how she became one of the best dancers in the world from such a young age.

Julianne was honest about the struggles of fame and talent so young, about finding her why and what drives her, and about learning how to be enough for herself.

Since this episode posted originally, we’ve become great friends and I’ve become even more inspired with who Julianne is and what she is up to.

If you’re looking for inspiration to go for your dreams, or simply the courage to believe that you are enough, enjoy this powerful conversation in Episode 499.

Some Questions I Ask:

  • What opened up for you at the Tony Robbins event?
  • Why did you want to be an entertainer as a kid versus as an adult?
  • What advice do you have for an entrepreneur who is always going?
  • How important is improving your mind to you? How do you do that?
  • How do you divide your time between all of your interests?
  • What was the biggest lesson you learned while being on Dancing with the Stars?

In this episode, you will learn:

  • How a Tony Robbins seminar changed her perspective on who she was trying to be
  • Her experiences being in a professional dance environment at 10 years old in London
  • Her struggle with perfectionism โ€“ not feeling good enough when she won something
  • How she shifted her passion and drive after realizing she just needed to please herself and not others
  • To think about how youโ€™re going to โ€œbeโ€ in the day versus what youโ€™re going to โ€œdoโ€
  • How she got addicted to learning (not in school)
  • What she is changing in her health routine to be focused on more than just vanity
  • Why she appreciates the opportunities to be authentic versus polished
  • Her quirky operatic voice (that comes out when sheโ€™s tired)
  • How her purpose has changed from receiving to giving
  • How she would pump herself up before auditions
  • Her view of her brother and how their relationship has changed as they have learned to see each other for who they really are
  • Her advice for young dancers (and parents)
  • Plus much more…
