Are you having self-doubt?
Self-doubt is something we all face at one point or another in our lives. It’s that little voice inside your head telling you that you can’t do something. But guess what? You can! Just because you have self-doubt doesn’t mean you should give up on your dreams. Some of the most successful people have faced self-doubt and overcome it. In fact, self-doubt is incredibly important in helping you achieve greater things in life.
Friends, welcome back to The School of Greatness. Today’s guest is my friend, Andrew Schulz, who is one of the biggest standup comedians in the country. In this episode, we discuss how to turn your insecurities into confidence, why self-doubt is necessary to achieve greatness ( which I thought was interesting from his point of view), what you should do right now to launch your new career, and so much more. It’s an exciting conversation, so buckle up, and let the class begin.

How to Transition Your Insecurities Into Confidence
Insecurity is something that all of us experience at one point or another in our lives. It can be crippling, leaving us feeling paralyzed and unable to do anything. However, there is a way to turn those insecurities into confidence, and it starts with recognizing them for what they are — self-doubts. Once we understand where our insecurity comes from, we can start to address it and work on building up our confidence.
“In order to be great, you need to have crippling anxiety about your skill level. I think not crippling, but you need to have intense scrutiny, and you also need to have the confidence to do more. So it’s just a crazy balance — like, you need to have the confidence to say something, and you need to have the insecurity to improve.” – Andrew Schultz
In order to achieve success in any field, you need two things: confidence and insecurity. Confidence inspires you to take risks and push yourself beyond your limits. Insecurity motivates you to learn and improve so that you can reach those same heights. Without both of these qualities, it’s impossible to achieve anything great. So don’t be afraid to be confident and insecure at the same time — it’s what makes you successful!
“You need insecurity. I’m grateful for it. You need insecurity. You need to look at somebody. You’ll be like, ‘Oh, they [can] do this better than me. [So,] I need to get better than them.” – Andrew Schultz
In order to build self-confidence, you must first have to understand and accept your insecurities. Once you know what your weaknesses are, you can start working on them and gradually turning them into strengths.
